Once each design is concluded, we entrust the manufacture of all our collections to our printing workshop in South Yorkshire where talented craftsmen carry the printing and engraving processes, with the finest expertise and attention to detail possible to deliver a luxurious and hand made product.

Inks, font styles and papers

Our custom personal stationery collections offer different choices on ink colours, font styles and papers. All our papers are sourced from the best paper mill factories, available in laid (textured with fine lines) or wove finishes (smooth finished). Please see below our signature custom charts. For special requests please contact our Bespoke Stationery Design Practice.

Printing Methods and Finishes

Engraving and die-stamping

The oldest type of printing, its elegant and refined finish makes it the finest method for printing luxurious stationery.A very elaborate and delicate process starts when lettering or images are engraved by hand or machine into the surface of a copper plate. They will be filled with ink and the remaining ink will be carefully removed. Then the paper will be applied into the engraved areas and the ink will be transferred into it, giving the raised and crisp printed effect

Lithographic printing

This traditional quality method rely on four basic colours (yellow, cyan, magenta and black) that are applied into a printing plate with the image surface to be printed. The ink will be then transferred to a cylinder that will finally press the ink onto the paper. In this method, the ink and the paper are on the same level producing a smooth, matt effect.

Thermography

Thermo printing is an alternative to die-stamping, with lower cost. Using a heat process, quantities of special powder will be applied to wet ink already printed on paper, melting and producing a raised effect. However the finish is not as precise as die-stamping.

Embossing

This method is similar to die-stamping but with no ink being used. Debossing would be the other way around, both methods giving a very attractive and stylish finish.
