About the Author

Rafael Bartolozzi, (Pamplona, ​​March 15, 1943 - Tarragona, March 22, 2009), was a Spanish sculptor and painter. Descended from a family of artists; he was a painter of the Navarrese realist school. He studied at the Escolapios and at the Ximénez de Rada Institute in Pamplona and was part of the Municipal Group of Dantzaris. In 1962 he moved to live in Barcelona. Bartolozzi has been linked to Catalonia since 1962, as he studied at the Escuela de la Lonja and at the Escuela de Pintura Mural de San Cugat del Vallés. He belonged to the generation of artists of the 60s, characterized by their affiliation with Pop Art and the recovery of figuration, as well as to the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Sant Jordi in Barcelona and the student movements in Pedralbes. Bartolozzi has always taken care of the pictorial technique, standing out for the diversity of media used. He has produced a variety of works, from murals in buildings such as Magaluf or the house of Camilo José Cela in Palma de Mallorca, to the Plaza de la Paz in Pamplona and fountain-sculptures commissioned by the Barcelona City Council, located in the Parque de la Trinidad

His multidisciplinary art includes colloquiums, events, editions and exhibitions in Spain and abroad. His works can be found in museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Seville, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Villafamés, Vitoria, Madrid, Pamplona, ​​Tarragona, Santiago de Chile, Managua, Ibiza, Cáceres and Cadaqués.

He is also part of public collections such as “La Caixa”, the Cultural Network of Barcelona, ​​and several city councils. He represented Spain at the Venice Biennale in 1980 and received the X Biennale of Sport award for Fine Arts in 1992. (Source: Wikipedia)
